Riki Banerjee, Ph.D., is an accomplished technical leader at the forefront of neurotechnology innovation. She currently serves as Chief Technology Officer at Synchron, a company advancing endovascular brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) to restore motor function in individuals with paralysis. 

Dr. Banerjee joined Synchron in September 2021 as Vice President of R&D and was later appointed CTO, where she leads all research and development activities to translate pioneering neuroprosthetic technologies into clinical solutions. 

Before Synchron, she spent over a decade at Medtronic Neuromodulation, where she contributed to the commercialization of therapies including deep brain stimulation, sacral nerve modulation, and spinal cord stimulation. 

Dr. Banerjee holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and both Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities. 

Her leadership has been recognized with honors, including the 2022 Early Career Award from the UW–Madison College of Engineering, reflecting her ability to combine engineering rigor with meaningful impact in healthcare technology. 

With a track record of translating cutting-edge neuroengineering into real-world devices, Dr. Banerjee brings a rare blend of depth in R&D, product commercialization, and system-level thinking in the med-tech space.
