Mark Caffrey

Mark Caffrey is the CEO and Co-Founder of Syntropic Medical, a medical device company pioneering novel treatments for psychiatric disorders. With a background in physics, biomedical engineering, and neuroscience, Mark has dedicated his career to developing technologies and building companies that deliver meaningful impact to patients’ lives. He began his work in the field at just 19 years old in the Translational Medical Device Lab, where he developed devices across oncology, women’s health, imaging, and other clinical areas. While still completing his bachelor’s degree in physics, he led grant projects worth over €2.5M, all while still studying for his bachelor’s degree in physics.. His contributions earned him recognition as one of Ireland’s top innovative engineers, and he represented Ireland internationally on several occasions. At 22, Mark founded his first venture-backed company and joined the Sigma Squared Society, where he quickly rose to a director role. His ongoing passion for improving patient outcomes led him to co-found Syntropic Medical in 2023. Within just 18 months, the company advanced to clinical stage, demonstrating outstanding outcomes in patients diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder.
