Jan Tobias Hachmann, M.D., M.S., M.B.A., is a neurosurgeon at the Orlando Health Neuroscience Institute specializing in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery, epilepsy surgery, and neurosurgical oncology. Dr. Hachmann earned his medical degree at Heidelberg University in Germany, where he also received a master’s degree in translational medical research. He then served a postdoctoral research fellowship in neural engineering at the Mayo Clinic Rochester. Dr. Hachmann completed his residency in neurological surgery and fellowship in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery at Virginia Commonwealth University, where he also completed a Master of Business Administration with concentrations in entrepreneurship and innovation and health care management. He then completed an associate surgeon fellowship in neurosurgical oncology and skull base surgery at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville. His expertise includes epilepsy surgery, deep brain stimulation, focused ultrasound, oncology and skull base surgery, awake brain surgery and advanced brain mapping, laser ablation, robot-assisted neurosurgery, and endoscopic and minimally invasive brain surgery. His research interests include neural engineering, electrical neuromodulation, neural restoration, innovation and clinical translation, molecular therapeutics and stereotactic delivery, and spinal cord injury.
